Four Figure Mathematical Tables: Comprising Logarithmic and Trigonometrical Tables, and tables of Squares, Square Roots, and Reciprocals

Language: English. About the Book: Four?Figure Mathematical Tables by J. T. Bottomley is a practical mathematical reference compiled in the late 19th?century. It presents four?figure precision tables of common logarithms, trigonometric functions, squares, square?roots and reciprocals. The introduction explains how the tables are constructed and used.Designed for typical scientific or engineering work (rather than extreme precision), it offers a compact alternative to large volumes, facilitating quicker manual calculations in era before electronic computing. About The Author: James Thomson Bottomley’s *Four?Figure Mathematical Tables: Comprising Logarithmic and Trigonometrical Tables, and Tables of Squares, Square Roots, and Reciprocals (1887) is a concise yet comprehensive reference work aimed at practical computation before electronic calculators. It offers four?figure precision (i.e., up to four digits) tables of common (base?10) logarithms, trigonometric function values, squares, square?roots and reciprocals. The book includes guidance on use (e.g., how to read the index and mantissa of a logarithm) and is designed for students, engineers and scientists to simplify manual multiplication, division, and trigonometric calculations.
