A collection of four very charming and unique colourful Valentine's Day cards dating from the Victorian and Edwarian eras. A collection of four charming and unique valentine's day cards dating from the late Victorian and Edwardian eras.Dated c1890, a charming card in the original embossed evenlope. A miniature format valentine in pink and gold textured paper, with a motif of 'purity' and red and yellow flowers in a vase, surrounding by decorative borders. The poem inside runs as 'I saw you smile, I heard you speak, And now, to gain, Your love I seek; I lost my heart, That happy day, It left me then, With you to stay'. The envelope is addressed to Miss Mary Hunt, Hunstvill, Conn. Heads of the flowers is detached.Dated c1900, two cut out figures of a boy and a girl carrying baskets of flowers and a watering can. The colourful figures are chromolithographed, die cut figures, measuring at 9cm by 5cm. Each figure is supported to the rear in order for the figures to stand up. The feet and stand of the boy are detached from the body by present.Dated c1906, printed by Wolf & Co of New York, a chromolithograph postcard. Text to the postcard reads 'Love's valentine. Fragrant Flowers, A little letter too, With fondest greeting, I sent this day to you'. The postcard shows two children, a boy and a girl, with the boy giving the girl a pretty bouquet. The Wolf Brothers founded their company in 1879, and were one of the leading publishers and importers of art novelists in the United States. The illustrator Ellen Clapsaddle worked for them, and this postcard appears to be in her style.Dated 1910, a hanging heart-shaped valentine showing a young girl dressed in blue, with the text 'Valentine Greeting'. Printed on textured cream card, the girl is dressed in a matching blue coat and hat with an ermine muff and collar. Ink note to the reverse 'many happy returns of the day, from all the little Wadstons, Feb 14th 1910'. Cards are lightly age-toned with only a few minor marks and are in a generally very well preserved condition for their age. The feet and stand of the boy are detached from the body by present. The flowers in the vase of card dated c1890 is detached but present. Postcard dated c1906 with aged tape marks to the reverse. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 831P19
