This book is about Rommel, the Desert Fox, who became a legend in his own time and the crack Afrika Korps trained to fight, and survive in the scorching desert. The Campaign was in North Africa and the battles splashed in blood across the pages of history -- Tobruk, Hellfire Pass, EI Alamein, Gazala, Mersa el Brega, and Sollum. This is the whole story of the Nazi military genius who welded a straggly bunch of ill-trained misfits into a resourceful, bold, disciplined fighting force. It is the firsthand, inside report of an army that fought two adversaries- the enemy and the desert-and nearly defeated both! It is a detailed account of one of the most dramatic performances in World War 2.
