While at first the lists may seem quite ordinary, they will draw readers in with their simple rhymes and rhythm. Multiethnic children and a variety of creatures weave around the four-line groups of text, expanding it with their antics. Colors ranging from bright shades to pastels are softly outlined. The book is not without its flaws, however. Sometimes a picture misses the mark, as a baby floating in a bubble has no obvious relation to "noses," and the rhymes are occasionally strained. Because children will need time to match picture and happening, this is a one-on-one or independent-reading title.
