The Freddy books, widely beloved as classics and deemed the American equivalent of the Pooh stories, are a remarkable achievement in children's literature. Originally published in 1941, it was the 8th book in the humorous children series, Freddy the Pig, by author Walter R. Brooks and illustrator Kurt Wiese. This was the last book in the series before the U.S. enters the era of WWII and a good story about how to confront an unknown opponent. iv + 284pp. Dramatic, humorous illustrations by Kurt Wiese (1887-1974). Hardcover has cream cloth boards with green lettering and ornamentation on front and spine, in fine (as new) DJ. Carefully handled with square corners and sound gutters, the book appears unread.
