The November-December 1943 issue of "Free France", a serial issued by the French Press and Information Service, an agency of the French Committee of National Liberation ("Comite franÁais de Liberation nationale"). Formed by Charles de Gaulle and Henri Giraud, it was a provisional government that aimed to unite the French people and coordinate efforts against German forces. This serial, printed in English for American audiences, aimed to garner sympathy from the American public for their cause. Includes some fantastic illustrations of resistance groups interrupting German communications, killing Nazi officials, and hitting German army officers with grenades. Reports news on the ground including the closure of Strasbourg University, official recognition of the group by the U.N., and French citizenship. Single vol. (10.75" by 8.25"), pp. 172-220, illus., in original red white and blue wrps with map of France, in original 9" by 12" postmarked envelope, with mail order slip and envelope enclosed. Very good to near fine. Some wear to envelope.
