Third Edition. Hardcover. This is a very scarce early volume. There are a small number of modern reprints available for sale on public databases. Contains chapters on materials employed in drawing, how to draw lines, shading, applying lines and shading to simple elementary subjects, and sketching from nature. "Lines" include curves, circles, and elaborate designs. Curved lines include vases and human faces. "Nature" includes anatomy, farm animals, and rustic objects. Advertised as "profusely illustrated" on title page, includes numerous black and white illustrations. 6.5 inches x 4.25 inches. Blue hard cardboard covers with title in black to front cover. Covers are worn at edges and bottom of spine, with heavy smudge marks from handling. Owner's stamps on front endpaper and title page. Pages are browned but clean. Foxing on front and back endpapers and a few early pages. 85 pages, plus an additional 8 pages of plates. ART.012524.
