Third edition. With an Introductory Sketch of the Author by John Mitchell, Jr. Octavo. 150pp, Engraved frontispiece portrait of the African-American author. A few early rubberstamps on front and rear endpapers: "4th Baptist S.S." Cloth is worn with moderate chipping at tips of spine, scattered foxing, else a good, sound copy of a scarce book. Daniel B. Williams a member of the faculty of Virginia Normal and Collegiate Institute, and was the author of *The Negro Race, a Pioneering Civilization, Why We are Baptists,* etc. Uncommon. *OCLC* locates three copies of the third edition. *Blockson 2875* (for the first edition, which was published in the same year).
