Broadside, 16 7/8 x 12 3/8 inches, printing a message from "National Resources Development," report of the National Resources Planning Board, transmitted to Congress by the President on January 14, 1942. In addition to the four "universals of human life," Freedom of Speech Worship, Freedom from Want and Fear, made famous in a series of paintings by Norman Rockwell, are listed nine personal rights: (1) The Right to Work, (2) The Right to Fair Pay, (3) The Right to Adequate Food, (4) The Right to Security, (5) The Right to Live in a System of Free Enterprise, (6) The Right to Come and Go, (7) The Right to Equality before the Law, (8) The Right to Education, and (9) The Right to Rest, Recreation, and Adventure, each expanded a bit with text. "These rights and opportunities we in the United States want for ourselves and for our children now and when this war is over. They go beyond the political forms and freedoms for which our ancestors fought and which they handed on to us, because we live in a new world in which the central problems arise from new pressures of power, production, and population, which our forefathers did not face."
