Freelance Rates and Standard Practice: National Writers Union Guide to Freelance Rates & Standard Practice

An indispensible resource for freelance writers in every market, the NWU Guide offers a real-life look at freelancing, including fees, contracts and working conditions.

Freelancers are an isolated lot. Working from home offices around the world, they may be experts on science, fashion, or mountain biking, but they're often out of the loop about standard publishing practice. For beginners, this is doubly true. Time and experience brings perspective, but the novice freelancer often hasn't a clue as to whether he or she is being offered a fair deal. National Writers Union to the rescue. The group polled, compiled, and generally stormed the hallowed editorial ground where angels fear to inquire. With National Writers Union Guide to Freelance Rates & Standard Practice you'll get the scoop on book contracts, ghostwriting, literary magazine rates, journalism practices, technical writing, corporate communications, and how the Internet fits in. Excellently researched and beautifully written, this is a precious reference.
