Freemen

Freemen, is the story of a close-knit band of resistance fighters, based in the North of England, following the centralisation of European government in the wake of the fiscal collapse of the individual European nations. The story follows one band in particular, led by Lucas Fletcher, the son of one of the original Freemen, who led a failed rebellion against the oppressive, totalitarian European Coalition government, then melted into the landscape, carving out their place in the world, and relying on their tenacity, adaptability, and love for each other for their very survival. Their life is a daily battle, but the arrival of a mysterious young woman turns their world upside down, threatening to upset the delicate balance of power. As the enemy forces close in, the Freemen launch a desperate stand, setting off a chain of events that will set the stage for a final, decisive battle. Can the Freemen strike the fatal blow to the heart of their oppressors, or will their blood be shed in vain?

Darren Byng is an American-born writer. He grew up in the woods and on the waters of South Florida, gaining a deep appreciation for the natural world. Darren left University and joined the enlisted ranks of the United States Marine Corps in 2002, at the age of 18, serving five years on active duty in the Intelligence field and receiving an honourable discharge. He moved to the United Kingdom with his family in 2009 and presently lives in Yorkshire with his wife, and two sons, where he works as a railway signaller, writing in his spare time.
