About this title

Synopsis

This book provides an in-depth analysis of the life and work of the Italian physician and poet Girolamo Fracastoro, considered one of the most prominent figures of the Renaissance era. The author presents a comprehensive overview of Fracastoro's contributions to medicine, natural philosophy, and literature, exploring the intellectual context in which he lived and worked. The book sheds light on Fracastoro's pioneering work on infectious diseases, his introduction of the term "syphilis," and his innovative approach to the study of nature. It also examines Fracastoro's literary pursuits, including his influential poem "Syphilis," which combined scientific knowledge with humanistic values. This exploration of Fracastoro's multifaceted career offers valuable insights into the intellectual and cultural landscape of the Renaissance period.
