My Friend is an Earthling

On the planet Krasny, Slavik's Council-run school teaches young wizards to fear Earthlings. "They only look human," the teachers say, "but really they are our enemies and monsters."
 
Yet his dad likes the people of Earth and hates the tyrannical Council, so when Slavik's parents disappear, he suspects the government has taken them. No one on his planet can help, so Slavik escapes to Earth through a magical portal, where he discovers the Council plans to attack with the Planet Smasher Bomb.
 
Together with his new psychic friend Rita, smart, witty, and loyal, Slavik must find his parents, prevent interstellar war, and overthrow the Council. All while learning how to use magic portals as a weapon. All while falling in love with the girl who was supposed to be his monstrous enemy.
