Friendship Food (Paperback or Softback)

What happens when four friends plant a seed?

Neighbourhood and school friends Mia, Sebastian, Jamal, and Sharmila are about to find out. As they dig, water, and wait, they discover that growing food takes patience, care, and teamwork, and that the rewards go far beyond the harvest.

Mia guides us through the story. Her abuela and abuelo are from Mexico, Sebastian's nona and nono are from Argentina, Jamal's mima and jedd are from Morocco, and Sharmila's nani and nana are from India. In their wonderfully diverse neighbourhood, the four friends come together to grow the vegetables at the heart of their families' favourite dishes.

From seed to classroom, they learn how the same humble vegetable can connect them to their families, their cultures, and one another. Along the way, they discover it's perfectly okay not to love every vegetable - and that some good things are worth sharing, even with the birds who want a taste too!

Friendship Food is a heartwarming story about friendship, pride, and the joy of connection through food. If your children love to eat, are curious about growing their own, or delight in trying dishes from around the world, they'll find a lot to savour here.
