It is not to afl'ert, or give fome naked difcovery of thefe great fupernatural truths in the word, but to lead into the things themfelves, in their real being and exil'tence that this is intended, as truths to which there is a more near approach by feeing, tafie, and as it were by fome touch, than feems by moft to be underflood, how near and feeling a converfe is to be reached betwixt the intelleét and the object; yea, thus what great improvements might be made of fenfe in its fub ferviency to our faith, and a more full repofe and quiet of the foul for adventuring on the word; fo as the way of be lieving, which to many is fo dark and firange a thing, fhould be in that manner comfortable and clear, with as quieting fes entity as we could have in the way of fenfe and feeling; the clearing of which in this following ellhy, in nothing will be found to juftle with that great duty of walking by faith, and to believe againft hope and vifible appearances of the event, but as a fingular help thereto.
