About this Item

Entire issue offered. Original wrappers. Very Good. 'Although The Copernican Revolution represented a significant advance in Kuhn's articulation of a revolutionary theory of science, there were several issues that had to be sorted out before he was ready to publish it. What was missing from Kuhn's reconstruction of the Copernican revolution was an understanding of how scientists function on a daily basis, when no impending revolution is looming. That understanding emerged gradually in three papers written from the mid-late 1950s to the early 1960s' (James A. Marcum, Thomas Kuhn's Revolution, 2005, p. 43). The other two papers Marcum refers to are 'The Essential Tension: Tradition and Innovation in Scientific Research' (in C. W. Taylor, ed., The Third University of Utah Research Conference on the Identification of Scientific Talent, University of Utah Press, 1959) and 'The function of dogma in scientific research' (pp. 34769 in A. C. Crombie, ed., Scientific Change (Symposium on the History of Science, University of Oxford, 915 July 1961), 1963). Bookseller Inventory # 21928
