The Functional Hazard Assessment for eVTOL Power Battery System

Safety is essential to eVTOL development with novel and clean electric power. Different from the Electric Vehicle (EV) functional safety, eVTOL needs a top-down approach to establish the safety objectives for the power battery from scratch. This book covers: *eVTOL flight profile and effectiveness of aircraft level safety mitigation, i.e. parachute and crashworthiness; *Existing airworthiness certification approach for airborne battery systems; *eVTOL function definition methodology and function list examples; *eVTOL power battery system functional failure conditions and classifications; *Complexity and development assurance rigor comparison between aircraft and EV; * Special Condition of EH216-S Type Certificate.
