Functions And Change: A Modeling Approach To College Algebra

Intended for students in a college algebra course who are not destined for an engineering-oriented calculus course, Functions and Change, A Modeling Approach to College Algebra, 2/e, has been revised with input from instructors across the curriculum: the sciences, business, economics, and political science. The text builds students' confidence in working with graphs, real data, and linear algebraic manipulations in these various disciplines.

Bruce Crauder is a mathematician who has worked in research algebraic geometry and now works in mathematics curricular reform. Crauder received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1981, after which he spent a post-doctoral year at the Institute for Advanced Studies. Since then, he has held positions at the University of Utah, University of Pennsylvania, University of North Carolina, Colorado State University and is now at Oklahoma State University. Crauder has, in the past, held NSF research grants in algebraic geometry and as well as several NSF grants for curricular development and reform with Benny Evans and Alan Noell. He is currently Associate Dean for Instruction, College of Arts & Sciences, at Oklahoma State.
