Funk/Fusion Bass by Jon Liebman is an instructional book with online audio designed for electric bass players developing intermediate-level technique and groove in funk and fusion styles. It focuses on building timing, articulation, and stylistic awareness through structured studies and real musical applications, making it a practical choice for players ready to move beyond basic patterns.

With a foreword by Verdine White, the book connects core technique to the sound and feel of professional funk playing. The included online audio features over 90 demonstration and play-along tracks, enhanced with PLAYBACK+ tools that allow tempo adjustment, looping, key changes, and part isolation for more effective and flexible practice.

The material is presented in clear tablature and focuses on essential techniques such as two finger plucking, string crossing, and expressive articulations including hammer ons, pull offs, slides, bends, and trills. These are integrated into groove-based examples that reflect modern funk and fusion styles, helping players develop both technical control and a strong sense of pocket and phrasing.
