Item description from seller

Condition: Good to Very Good condition - Please read description below for details and look carefully at the photographs. Questions welcome. | Fynmore Archive: Notes and Queries, Eighth Series ? Volume Ninth (January?June 1896) Archival Description & Condition From the private archive of R. J. Fynmore (1840?1920), antiquary of Sandgate, Kent Three-quarter leather with marbled boards, raised bands, and gilt title to the spine. The leather shows scuffing and losses, and both joints are cracked though the boards remain firmly attached. Binding is tight and secure. The contents are clean, bright, and complete, with occasional toning and light foxing typical of age. All clippings and inserts are neatly mounted, legible, and stable. Condition: Good to Very Good. Provenance From the library of R. J. Fynmore (1840?1920), antiquary of Sandgate, Kent, whose extensive Notes & Queries compilations form a remarkable private historical archive of Victorian and Edwardian scholarship, genealogical research, and cultural reportage. Archival Themes and Notable Inclusions This volume exemplifies Fynmore's interdisciplinary range, interweaving literary, historical, and sociological curiosities: Robert Burns genealogy: "Some Descendants of Robert Burns" (Daily Chronicle, 1897) with illustrations and lineage notes. Maritime heroism: multiple articles on The Wreck of H.M.S. Birkenhead (1852?1907) including obituaries of survivors and a Bury St Edmunds memorial. Hallam's Enigma and related correspondence on "The Best of Our Isle," showing the era's passion for cryptic literary riddles. Early aviation: Sir George Cayley's 1799 glider? | Offered by Booking33 ? rare, antiquarian & collectible books. Carefully packed; insured shipping available.
