This is the Condensed Edition of the index to the British Library's book collection. This set consists of the original twenty-seven volumes, plus supplements covering the period 1956-1970. The supplements collectively make a further eight volumes. In order to make the original edition less unwieldy, eight columns of the original edition have been reduced to fit one page of this work. The 46,000 pages (roughly) of this edition therefore, represent approximately 700,000 of the numbered columns of the original edition. In preparing this compact edition, the contents have been re-indexed, and "the alphabetical order of the entries and the pagination newly supplied in this edition should be the sole location guides." .…
