With color frontispiece by William Cameron Menzies as well as b/w portrait photo of author with facsimile signature. First published in May 1936, GONE WITH THE WIND achieved unexpected bestseller status and usurped William Faulkner's ABSALOM, ABSALOM! for the 1937 Pulitzer Prize. The equally iconic movie adaptation by Selznick International Pictures starring Clark Gable as Rhett Butler and Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara was released in December 1939 and won eight Academy Awards and further reinforced romantic notions of aristocratic Georgians battling the indignities and turmoil inflicted by Union troops and carpetbag Yankees during the Civil War and Reconstruction. Please note that this thick book has an approximate shipping weight of 4 pounds (1.81 kg) and may require additional postage for any postal class other than domestic Media Mail.…
