In 1904, rice cultivation was introduced to Stuttgart, a city established by German immigrants in eastern Arkansas. In short order, agriculture emerged as the leading industry, supported by the "Cotton Belt Route" as the St. Louis Southwestern Railway was known. From 1906 to 1916, regional rice cultivation grew from 4,000 to 100,000 acres. This booster piece describes at length the opportunities Stuttgart and the Grand Prairie Belt offers the settler, which include the fertile soil, ideal climate, irrigation wells, orderly communities, public schools and churches, and affordable land. Reinforcing claims like "Land Where an Interest on Your Money is Sure", there is an image of a "group of autos owned principally by rice owners" and another of "Stuttgart s $50,000 School Building". Tabloid size (12 1/2" x 19"): 4 pp. with 14 photographic illustrations and a cartoon. Printed in black on both sides of a 25" x 19" sheet of white stock, which has been folded into eighths. General toning along the extremities, with splitting at the seams and along the folds. Scarce, OCLC locates no holdings.
