A good copy in full dark brown morocco, gilt lettered direct on the backstrip which is in six compartments with raised bands, the front and rear covers with a blind-ruled frame, all edges gilt. Gift inscription dated 1865 on the front free end-leaf and the armorial bookplate of H. Ernest Campbell. Appleby is a town well worth a visit, the coffee pot is always on though refreshment with �a little more authority' can be had if the Crown & Cushion in the town's market square is open!
