A rare European edition, printed in English, after the first New York edition of the previous year. A well-known and quite extensive travel narrative, which Cowan describes as "vigorous and picturesque." The author first went to California in 1846, and stayed for some time in Monterey, San Francisco, and San Jose. This edition is not noted in the standard bibliographies. COWAN, p.691.
