Book condition: fine, very scarce, the illustrations are the highlight with colors so vibrant they seem three dimensional, the book follows the decoration of the walls of the gallery in the west wing of the Quirinale Palace in Rome where Pope Alexander VII commissioned Pietro di Cortona to create a long frieze in fresco in the gallery, Cortona was a Baroque painter and architect, the text is minimal, the plates are stunning, the dust jacket features a full page b/w illustration and is in excellent condition as are the black cloth boards, slight dent to half title page otherwise interior is in pristine condition, binding tight, 295 pages, 10 X 13.25 inches.
