Fifth edition 1850. Complete with the fine double page lithographic frontispiece, the plate of the instructions for building a billiard-room by J. Thurston, another plate of Thurston's improved gas branch for lighting billiard tables and 93 full page plates of instructions on how to play the game. Lithographic frontispiece clean, the other plates are generally foxed and slightly age toned. In a contemporary brown cloth which has been rebacked at a slightly later date but with the original leather titling label preserved. The back cover is stained and marked, front cover marked. The spine is very slightly split along the edges. Rubbing to the edges. Still a very good solid copy. Rare complete with all plates and illustrations.
