Turn your GameMaker Studio 2 skills into a stronger game-development foundation without wasting time struggling through complicated programming concepts. This handbook is designed to help you build more polished, responsive, and maintainable games while developing programming habits that can save you time, reduce bugs, and make future projects easier to manage.
GameMaker Studio 2 Advanced Programming Handbook takes you beyond basic movement, sprites, and simple game mechanics and into the programming techniques needed for more ambitious projects. You’ll learn how to structure game logic, manage data, create reusable systems, control complex gameplay states, and develop smarter enemy behaviors.
Instead of simply showing you what a feature does, the book focuses on how advanced programming concepts can solve real game-development problems. You’ll gain a clearer understanding of how different systems work together, helping you create games that feel more organized, reliable, and professional.
As your games become more complex, beginner-level techniques can quickly become difficult to maintain. Code becomes harder to understand, systems begin interfering with each other, and adding new features can introduce unexpected bugs.
This book helps you overcome those challenges by showing you how to approach game programming with greater structure and confidence. You’ll discover ways to make gameplay systems easier to expand, improve performance, organize complex mechanics, and create more intelligent interactions.
Whether you’re improving an existing project or starting a larger game from scratch, the techniques can help you spend less time fighting your code and more time building the game you actually want.
This book is written for GameMaker developers who already understand the fundamentals and want to progress toward more advanced programming. It can benefit hobbyists, aspiring indie developers, students, and programmers who want to strengthen their GameMaker Studio 2 skills.
You don’t need to be an expert. What matters is that you’re ready to move beyond simple projects and learn how to think about game systems at a deeper level.
Your next game doesn’t have to be limited by the programming techniques you already know. GameMaker Studio 2 Advanced Programming Handbook can help you develop the skills needed to approach larger, smarter, and more sophisticated projects with confidence.
Pick up your copy today and take the next step toward becoming a stronger GameMaker Studio 2 developer.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
