Add to basketA scarce copy of this charming collection of children's nursery rhymes, in the original publisher's paper covered wraps. A scarce work. A children's collection of famous nursery rhymes, including 'Mary Mary Quite Contrary', 'Sing a Song of Sixpence', 'Old Mother Hubbard', and 'Humpty Dumpty'. With a frontispiece by the painter Thomas Webster. Webster was best known for his illustrations of humorous everyday life, often depicting children. By Joseph Ritson, an antiquary who is best known for his compilation of the popular Robin Hood legend in 1795. This work is one of copies in the binding state 'Q-R' and 'Z-BB' as stated by the V&A Libraries on Copac, variant copies with cream paper wrappers and plain yellow endpapers with no publisher's adverts. This copy has a wood-engraving printed within a wood-engraved compartment to the front wrap, with 'Price Threepence, Coloured' to the tail. Undated, dated from Copac. In the original publisher's paper wraps. Externally, smart. A little discolouration to the wraps, as is usual with the light colour. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed.
