Starting his professional life assisting a fan painter, TRE was noted for his delicate work and intricate "nature" borders which flowed into his paintings, reproduced here through lithography and tipped onto French-made sheets. The pages opposite, with natural history notes by Dr. Martyn Rix, are Scottish antique wove paper, created for this edition. The boards are a pale pea green with lettering and a "Robins border" on front and back in shades of brown. There is a slight smudge at the top of the front corner and some smudging to the spine above the brown lettering, with a somewhat dented heel. The rear cover has a pinpoint spot at top. The earth brown slip case shows scraping on front and rear and wear along inner edges.
