About the Author

By 4th grade Gary Reed knew he wanted a career as an artist. In high school in his hometown of Woodstock, Illinois, he found a mentor, a young art teacher enthusiastic about immersing students in all facets of the arts. After three years at three different art schools--from Wisconsin to Florida--Gary decided to crate and ship his Triumph Bonneville and fly to Hawai'i. The choice was inspirational, for the ocean, the landscapes and most of all, the people, supplied subject and support. His work, laboriously slow, using tiny brushes, strikes a chord across Hawai'i, and his originals hang in boardrooms, various other editions are everywhere! Long considered Hawai'i's premier landscapist, Gary here explains his passion and his work for the first time.
