Do Gather: How to Create a Small Magical Event

Perfect for event organizers, community builders, hosts – and anyone interested in creating meaningful, human-led events and gatherings.

“Magical” is the word most used to describe the Do Lectures. It's where world-class speakers share their story in a former cowshed. Where attendees dine amongst raised beds. And where secret gin bars and hot tubs wait to be discovered...

In Do Curate, Clare Hieatt shares insight and learnings from over a decade hosting this iconic event. From curating the speaker lineup to selecting the most fragrant woods to burn, she knows that every detail counts. Now, she will help you to elevate your own events and gathering. Discover:

• The secret to good curation, from arrival to departure
• Favorite recipes: breakfast granola, green lasagne, dark chocolate & tahini cookies
• Why authenticity and human connection are key
• How small events build community

Whether corporate conferences or dinner parties, successful hosting is about making people feel at home and creating the conditions for magic to happen: new ideas, experiences and connections. And it's all in the curation.

Clare Hieatt is the co-founder of the Do Lectures. She started her working life in London as a copywriter. She lives on a farm on the west coast of Wales, where she and her husband raised their daughters and founded two other businesses: howies and Hiut Denim. Now with an empty nest and just one business to nurture, Clare is looking forward to time and space to put some of the learnings from 15 years of hosting the Do Lectures into practice.
