Oblong 8vo, 3 p.l., 88; printed from typescript on rectos only; 5 full-page halftones and a full-page map; spiral-bound white paper-covered boards printed in black; covers a little spotted else near fine. This copy warmly inscribed by the author: "Greetings to my good friend 'Jack' and a Happy New Year, from sincerely yours, Elmer." Vernon, Elmer and the boys go a-blastin' in Manitoba. There is a remarkable literary quality about this diary, with a dedicatory poem by William Cullen Bryant, and quotes in the text by Owen Meredith and Shakespeare, and one original poem of 34 lines. Members of the party included Drs. Vernon Smith and Malcomb Pearson of Saint Paul; the author and Judge Gunnar Nordbye of Minneapolis; 2 from Iowa and 2 guides. Edition size probably very small.
