Synopsis
Gem Matthews had thought she was in control. She had invented a new form of metal: crystallized metallic compounds. One compound became the material which powers James Broddin’s new Artificial Intelligence computer. But her newest metal deeply frightened her. It was gray, hard, indestructible. She was going to throw it away...until it began to glow with a soft green light which seemed so...familiar. She was on the verge of success, steeped in science, and falling in love with Broddin. She had control of her life. So why couldn’t she control this metal? Or her own mind? The demon had returned to her nightmares, choking her in her dreams. She would awake gasping for breath, asthma seizing her lungs, the cold invading her body. “Why? Why now?” She had looked to Broddin for help, but Broddin was dealing with his own visions. The nightmares had plagued him for years. He had become used to them. But now, new visions invaded him while awake, stopping his work, demanding his focus, calling him. From ages past, the demon watched and whispered, crept into dreams. He wanted the sword, the one from the edge of Eden, which now resides in the present. With that sword, he would have the power to destroy...everything. He pushed the future so that Gem Matthews, or James Broddin, would find it...and freely give it to him. At the end, the sword will fall into Broddin’s hand...and Gem will stand against the man she loves, beside the demon who has haunted both their nightmares for years. Outside a modern city in ruins, an ancient sword is tossed into the air. Time itself hangs upon the desperate battle between a young girl and a powerful demon to grasp and hold that sword.
About the Author
In addition to the novels in the Gem series, Joseph P. Stringer writes children's books, poetry, songs and non-fiction. His writing has been published in trade magazines and local publications in the Charleston, South Carolina area. His first children's illustrated book, "The U-Pick Farm" was published early in 2014. He has several more planned for the near future, along with two non-fiction books on his journey from Atheism to Christ and on our nature as beings created in God's image.
