Two informative works from John Burke and John Bernard Burke, offering detailed lists of the gentry, peerage and baronetage of the British Empire. Both of these works are in later editions, published in 1847.The first of these works is the ninth edition of 'A Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary of the Peerage and Baronetage of the British Empire'.Rebacked, with back strip laid down, retaining original endpapers.The second work, complete in two volumes is 'A Genealogical and Heraldic Dictionary of the Landed Gentry of Great Britain and Ireland'.Volume I offering an account of those with names A to L, and volume II from M to Z. In half calf bindings, with marbled paper covered boards. Peerage rebacked, with back strip laid down, retaining original endpapers. Significant fading to back strips, with light rubbing to back strips. Tail of Gentry vol I joints starting, with boards firmly held. Hinges of Gentry vol II strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with spotting to title pages and first and last few leaves. Very Good.
