General Generalizations

General Generalizations: Dazed, Confused and Copyright Infringement
by Diederik Müller

General Generalizations is a sharp-witted, unapologetically candid collection of essays exploring the absurdities, contradictions, and curiosities of modern life. Written from the perspective of a self-aware, conservative schoolteacher navigating the chaos of the 21st century, this book offers humorous, often provocative commentary on topics ranging from motivational speakers and astrology to race, religion, love, and loneliness.
With chapter titles like “Forget Racism,” “Screw Astrology,” and “Alone and Dangerous,” Müller doesn’t shy away from controversy or from challenging social norms. Instead, he embraces satire and irony, blending personal observations with pointed critique, all under the banner of what he openly admits is “cherry-picked” logic. It’s part rant, part reflection, and wholly original.
Rather than preach, the author aims to entertain, provoke thought, and spark conversation. Whether dismantling clichés about relationships, poking fun at Valentine’s Day, or questioning the value of education, Müller invites readers into a world where humor and scepticism meet in equal measure.
Written over several years and finalized during the 2020 pandemic lockdowns, this collection reads like a late-night conversation with a brutally honest friend — one who isn’t afraid to say what others are thinking (or too scared to admit). While some may find his views controversial, the book's true goal is to offer perspective, catharsis, and perhaps a much-needed laugh in a world that’s increasingly hard to make sense of.
This is not a guidebook or a manifesto — it's an exploration of life's everyday irritations and absurdities, told with biting humor and rare sincerity.
