Hardcover. 8vo (9.25" x 5.5"), rebound in gilt polished calf. Marbled fore-edge. x, 525 pp., one pp. pub. ads., numerous wood-engravings throughout. Bookplate on front pastedown. CONDITION: Very good, small brown stains on front and rear covers, covers moderately rubbed. Stated fifth edition of this classic work of popular natural history, illustrated with the much-admired wood engravings of Thomas Bewick. Binding made by Arno Werner.
