A very good two volume set in original matching flame calf bindings. Illustrated with 39 full-page engravings; one table, and 22 maps. 4to. 10.0" x 9.0" x 2.5". Hinges and corners carefully strengthened. Each volume with a flat spine, and original brown leather title label (chipped edges): "Blomfield's View Of The World.". Dedication to the verso of each front board: "Robert Henry Cobbold. A gift from his dear Papa February 14th, 1828". Also: A small white bookseller's label: "Abbott, Printer, Bookseller, Stationer, & Binder, Diss." Printed title with engraved vignette and light offsetting from the frontis. Clear English text. Some intermittent foxing and off-setting, but overall a clean set. Vol. I. : Title page dated 1807. pp.5/[1p.]/pp.3-827[1p. - blank], + 11 full-page engravings (including frontis), 1 folding table, 1 folding-maps and 8 full-page maps. Vol. II. : Title page dated 1807. [2pp.]/pp.695/[29pp. - Index], 19 full-page engravings (including frontis), 2 folding-maps and 11 full-page maps. VG.** "Robert Henry Cobbold (Rev) was born on 14 January 1820 in Eye, Suffolk, his father, Robert, was 27 and his mother, Emily, was 22. He married Caroline Anne Brown in April 1852 in Suffolk. They had nine children in 12 years. He died on 16 September 1893 at the age of 73. In that long life he spent 10 years working for the Church Missionary Society in China. He and his family returned to England wherehe had a number of posts, ending with Surrogate and Rural Dean in 1873 and Prebend of Hereford Cathedral in 1885. Active in the community until his death in 1893 he is buried at Ross and commemorated by a window there and by a plaque in Hereford Cathedral." - See Anthony Cobbold 2011 . *** " Ezekiel Blomfield (1778 1818) was a Congregational minister, author and compiler of religious works and works on natural history. His parents were Stephen Blomfield (born c.1740, died 27 November 1809) and Elizabeth Blomfield (née Luiss (Lewis), born c.1750, died 17 March 1799). Ezekiel was the youngest of four children. He was born on 28 October 1778 at North Walsham, Norfolk then moved with his parents to Norwich. He died on 14 July 1818 at Great Glemham, Suffolk and was buried on 21 July 1818 in the grounds of the Meeting House at Wortwell, Norfolk." - See Wikipedia.
