Rare Complete Set: Generalized Functions (Volumes 1–5) – I.M. Gel'fand & G.E. Shilov Description: weight 3.6 kg . For sale is a highly sought-after set of the first five volumes of the seminal series "Generalized Functions" by I.M. Gel'fand and G.E. Shilov (with co-authors Vilenkin and Graev). First published in the late 1950s and 1960s, these volumes redefined modern analysis. They remain the definitive reference for the theory of distributions, Gelfand triples (rigged Hilbert spaces), and their applications to partial differential equations and representation theory. Set Details: Vol. 1: Properties and Operations – The foundational theory of distributions. Vol. 2: Spaces of Fundamental and Generalized Functions – Focus on topological vector spaces and Gelfand-Shilov spaces. Vol. 3: Theory of Differential Equations – Applications to PDEs and uniqueness classes. Vol. 4: Applications of Harmonic Analysis—Introduction of rigged Hilbert spaces and generalized stochastic processes. Vol. 5: Integral Geometry and Representation Theory – Radon transforms and Lorentz group representations.
