Generous

Do you consider yourself to be a generous person? I assume you do. What if you’re wrong and you are not? Recent studies show that as income increases, generosity decreases. We are good people, so why aren’t we more generous people? The number one reason people aren’t generous is because they don’t think they can afford to be. In other words, most of us would love to be more generous, but something within us says we can’t. What if I told you that being generous is not about what God wants from you but what God wants for you? Proverbs says, “The world of the generous gets larger and larger; the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller. The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.” (11:24-25 MSG) In other words, you will be happier if you learn to be more generous. Who doesn’t want to be happy? I know I do, and I believe you do, too.
