Unusual, attractive deck of playing cards made of slivers of celluloid -- we had never seen celluloid playing cards before. N.d., circa 1920s. The maker of the company was a popular manufacturer of Mahjong in the 1920s, when the Chinese game enjoyed its greatest popularity in the U.S. Its mahjong pieces were made of celluloid also, as pieces for the game have been made ever since, to our knowledge. As to our celluloid deck, the cards glisten in a way that sets them apart from standard playing cards of the era. In terms of the cards' pictorial design -- the pips on the number cards, or Royal cards, the deck is standard. Only the joker is perhaps distinguishable from other decks. Only the box has any sign of wear, and that is minimal. The outer box, or slipcase, has light dusty soiling. Otherwise it is structurally solid, as is the inner slipcase. The outer box measures 10 by 6 cm and is not quite 2.5 cm thick. The cards are a standard playing card size. Box -- an outer and inner slipcase.…

Shipping terms
The shipping cost provided automatically by ABE assumes that the item is the size of an average hardcover book. Since our stock is comprised largely of material which is bigger and heavier, we will often need to request additional shipping charges as a result. We pride ourselves on always packing safely, with the actual materials and method of packing depending on the item(s), where it is going, and with whom we are shipping. We most frequently use the post office, but on some high value items, or upon request, we may use alternatively UPS or FedEx. With the postal service, to domestic destinations with lower value items and the automatically furnished ABE shipping quote, we will usually use Media Mail; on higher value items we are partial to Priority or Express Mail. We will always seek to comply with a customer's wishes if they are communicated to us. When we seek additional shipping charges, we pass along those charges at our cost -- we do not add for handling or materials generally.
