Dr Jasem Mohammed Al-Awadhi is now a Professor at Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science Kuwait University. He is He got his B. Sc. in Civil Engineering from Kuwait University, Kuwait, January 1986. His Master in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University, U. S. A. January 1992. The Ph.D. in Civil Engineering: from University of Aberdeen, May 1996. The Professional Interest are Environmental Science - Desert Science - Sediment Transport, Erosion and Deposition - Sand Control Measures and Modeling - Air Pollution Modeling and Seismology – Environmental Impact Assessment Studies. He has more than 60 published papers in refereed scientific Journals and conferences in English language. He also has been published more than 15, book, book chapter, reports and scientific papers in Arabic language. He was supervisor for many Master and PhD thesis. He awarded manyscientific prizes and awards. He has also leads many major projects and leads. He has conducted many workshops, training courses and conferences.
He is a member in many local and international organizations like Kuwait Environmental Protection Society, Kuwait. Committee member for rehabilitation of gravel quarry areas, Environment Public Authority, Kuwait. Member, National Committee for Compacting Desertification, Environment Public Authority, Kuwait. Member, Scottish International Resource Project, Scotland. Member, Middle East Seismology Fume, USA. Founder, GCC Dry Land Studies Network.
He touches many academic courses: Earth and Planets, Basic Geology, Land Degradation, Desertification, Pollution and Desert, Process of Aeolian Sediment Transport, Environmental Geology, Desert Soil, Rangeland Management, Sand Movement and Dust fallout, Special Studies.
Dr. Ali Al-Dousari is one of the leading scientists in the area of land degradation (desertification) and rehabilitation methods in the Arab region, especially in the Arabian Peninsula, and has significant experience in addressing land degradation linked to socioeconomic effects. He has won academic prizes locally and regionally (The Wildlife Award from the Arabian Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC); the Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Best Arab Researchers; the State Incentive Award; the Best Arab Book Award in the field of the environment; and the best editor in AJGS Springer Award) and acts as the Kuwait representation active member on the Committee of Science and Technology (CST) on the United Nation Committee for Compacting Desertification (UNCCD) (2016-2019), as well as being a member of many local, regional, and global scientific committees. Dr. Ali is on the editorial boards of many local and international journals (Springer). He is the author of more than 80 books, chapters, and published papers in refereed scientific journals and conferences.
