An essay on the elements of plane geometry : in which the most useful propositions, pp xiv, 131; An essay on the elements of plane trigonometry : with their application to altimetry and longimetry,iv, 100, each with separate title page, 14 engraved folding plates of diagrams, uncut in contemporary half calf, rubbed and worn, sometime plainly rebacked as befits a school textbook of the period, internally sound and clena throughout, SECOND EDITION; this collective edition of three of Donn's previous published works was first printed in 1775. Benjamin Donn is now remembered if at all as an important surveyor and cartographer, his map of Devon one of the best to that date; he was also an eminent teacher of matthematics, s shown by this compendium of advanced geometry for trainee surveyors. One would ideally like to find a clean uncut copy such as this in original boards, but the makeshift repair to this near contemporary half calf of this copy will suffice. The last copy traced at auction sold in 2010 when it was described as 'A scarce work. ESTC records only two copies of this edition, and four of the 1775 edition.'.
