Geometry Lessons in the Waldorf School (Paperback)

This little treasure trove of engagement and lively thinking around the topic of Geometry will give teachers and parents many ideas for bringing 10 and 11 year-olds along in their initial forays into geometry and geometric thinking. Schuberth is Waldorf teacher with decades of experience who bridges the mathematical journey from hand drawing or form drawing to precise geometrical constructions. The book is chock full of examples, drawings to imitate and from which to learn. Schuberth introduces the concepts with a clear encouragement to explore openly without delivering completed concepts, rather with an approach of discovery, to stimulate authentic geometric imagining in the young.

Ernst Schuberth attended a Waldorf school himself in Wuppertal and Hanover. He studied mathematics, physics, philosophy, and educational science at the University of Bonn in Germany. Schuberth has explored deep and complex mathematical and geometric ideas in his years of professional study and understands child development in all its complexity and richness. Ernst Schuberth designs his books to call to teachers to find inventive ways, using basic and clear ideas that set teachers free to encourage students to their own inventive, analytical thinking!
