George Alfred Lohmann. Right-arm medium fast bowler. Surrey cricketer The doings of GEORGE LOHMANN, the Surrey Cricketer, from 1884 to 1892, constitute a really brilliant record of all-round cricket. In the nine years, in first-class matches, he scored 5,702 runs, took 1,397 wickets, and made 244 catches, 85 of them from his own bowling. Though a fine free hitter and a splendid field anywhere, it is as a bowler that he has been best known. Of medium pace and with a break either way, he used his head well, and on certain wickets was unplayable. His best year was in 1890, when he took 220 wickets. Though born at Kensington on June 2nd, 1865, learned his Cricket in Surrey. Has been in South Africa two years for his health, but is coming home
