Brown and white illustrated wraps. 67 pp., profusely illustrated in bw. Published to accompany an exhibition held from September 23 - December 5, 2009. From 1823 to 1846, George Pope Morris (1802 – 1864) was editor and publisher of the most popular literary journals of the day, including the New-York Mirror and the Home Journal, which was the journalistic ancestor of the magazine Town and Country. Morris published the writings of William Cullen Bryant, Lydia Maria Child, Fitz-Greene Halleck, Washington Irving, and Edgar Allan Poe and serialized the works of Charles Dickens. Morris himself was the author of dozens of critical articles, poems, and popular songs. As a friend and supporter of American artists including Asher Durand and Thomas Cole, he played a key role in the development and promotion of the Hudson River School as the first major movement in the history of American art. Our specialties include the Humanities, with an emphasis on Art, Architecture, Photography, Decorative Arts, History, as well as Periodicals related to those areas. We have very rare as well as fairly common titles. Current inventory is approximately 79,000 titles. We have about 1000' of backlog in our specialties numbering over 30,000 items (including 20,000+ smaller and ephemeral catalogues devoted to individual artist exhibitions). Current stock occupies over 2.3 miles of shelving. We are active buyers as well as very active sellers, and supply entire reference libraries as well as individual titles. We ship books almost everywhere, with the exception of China due to restrictions. Our website mullenbooks.com maintains our entire database of over 150,000 titles dynamically, so you can submit "wants" for books which are listed, but not currently in-stock. post office or other delivering party. If you refuse insurance, I want you to

Books are returnable only if the condition is not as described and the return initiated within 3 days of delivery. Items 16 pages and under are not returnable for any reason. We love our books and our customers, but we simply cannot afford to be a lending reference library.

SHIPPING: USPS shipping rates are not determined by the purchaser. All quoted shipping costs from ABEare based on a 4-pound package. If your shipment is over 4 lbs. it will be adjusted before shipping. If it needs to be increased, we will contact you through ABEbooks and request an increase to cover our costs, which include postage materials and time. Mullen Books will make the final determination on carrier based on cost and delivery dates unless given specific instructions from the buyer PRIOR to the calculation of shipping costs.
