George Otto Simms: A Biography

In this highly acclaimed biography, Lesley Whiteside traces the events and influences which shaped George Otto Simms's life, from his boyhood in Co. Donegal, through his education and early ministry in Ireland to his years as Bishop of Cork, Archbishop of Dublin, and finally Archbishop of Armagh. The author explores the academic and ecclesiastical aspects of his life, while much of the book is concerned with the sometimes difficult years in Dublin and Armagh, with ecumenical progress and the tragedy of sectarian violence in Northern Ireland. `This is a well deserved biography and it has proved worthy of its subject' Church Times
