The reader will also learn what caused the revolution, how King George III and the British Parliament burdened the colonists in the Americas with harsh regulations, such as the Stamp Act, the Sugar Act, and the Quartering of Troops, leading to the Boston Massacre. It was as a result of these Intolerable Acts(R) that Honeyman, a former British officer who had fought for England against the French at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham and now lived in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, became a devout Patriot. In time, Honeyman and Seymour meet and join Washington and, in unique ways, assist the brave American soldiers as they recover from four straight defeats and struggle to get to safety in Pennsylvania.
