Gerald Holtom: Designer of the Peace Symbol (Paperback)

The Peace Symbol is instantly recognised the world over. It continues to appear as wars and nuclear threats darken our prospects, decade after decade. Where does it come from and what does it mean? In this affectionate biography, Darius Holtom recounts how his father, Gerald, developed the design that became the Peace Symbol. Gerald Holtom changed our world through his creativity, compassion and skill. “Gerald Holtom harnessed his considerable talents in the aid of nuclear disarmament. His symbol expresses a journey from ‘despair’ to action, turning from deep concern over the fate of humanity to a determination to avert the very worst prospects. The Peace Symbol is familiar to millions: the movement for nuclear disarmament needs Gerald’s example to become familiar once more.” Tom Unterrainer, Chair of the Campaign for Nuclear
