About the Author

James Cave is an Irish writer who has made a career out of being a foreigner. Having lived in Germany, France, Spain, the UK, and Portugal, he's spent years on the receiving end of other countries' unwritten rules—which is roughly how German Men Sit Down to Pee and Other Insights into German Culture, co-written with Niklas Frank, came to exist.
He's since turned that outsider's eye on Portugal, where he runs the relocation site Portugalist and wrote the bestselling Moving to Portugal Made Simple—a considerably more practical book, and one with far fewer jokes about toilets.
He is still, for the record, a committed Sitzpinkler.
